Smashing Pumpkins fue fundada en Chicago, Illinois, en 1988 y lanzó su debut Gish en 1991. Tuvieron un gran éxito con el cuádruple platino Siamese Dream en 1993 y el extraordinario 10x-platino Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995). Tras el lanzamiento de Adore, Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, se separaron en 2000. Billy Corgan reformó el grupo en 2005 atrayendo a gente de Zeitgeist, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Oceania, and Monuments to an Elegy. En junio de 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins lanzaron ‘Solara’, su primera canción en 18 años donde puedes escuchar a Corgan junto a miembros originales como James Iha (guitarra) y Jimmy Chamberlin (batería). Fue grabada en los Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California, con el legendario productor Rick Rubin y el guitarra de The Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Schroeder.
