The Danish melodic death metal band DEFACING GOD is ready to release their debut album The Resurrection of Lilith on September 2, 2022. Formed in 2015 by singer Sandie 'The Lilith' Gjørtz and drummer Michael Olsson, the band follows the harsh musical traditions of Scandinavian metal, with the center of their lyrics focusing on the myth of the female demon Lilith, who symbolizes independence and unwavering resistance. DEFACING GOD captivates listeners with their storytelling, music, and dark aesthetics, drawing them into a dark universe of obscure myths and ancient tales. Simultaneously, they subtly connect these myths to current societal themes such as suppression and inner demons. On a sonic level, DEFACING GOD aligns with bands like Cradle of Filth, Carach Angren, and Dimmu Borgir, balancing massive melodies underscored by the grand orchestration of Lars Vinther. Instead of blending these symphonic melodies with black metal, DEFACING GOD juxtaposes them with raw death metal. Their debut album, The Resurrection of Lilith, was produced by none other than Jacob Hansen, known for his work with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Volbeat, Evergrey, Epica, and countless others.

The Resurrection of Lilith begins with a cinematic intro that transitions into 'The Invocation Part I 'Lilith'.' This is the first of three songs introducing various mythological figures representing female powers, forming a dark trinity. Lilith is described first, as Adam's first wife who refused to obey him, becoming a symbol of female anger and independence. Two more parts, 'The Invocation Part II 'Jezebel'' and 'The Invocation Part III 'Abyzou'' follow, leading to the gripping anthem 'The Rise of Trinity,' celebrating their connection and sisterhood. The song starts calmly before the powerful intro transforms into an extreme power track carried by Gjørtz's powerful growls, gripping symphonic parts, and a captivating guitar solo. The rest of The Resurrection of Lilith proves to be a death metal assault of epic proportions, with DEFACING GOD unleashing their full strength and songwriting dynamics through diverse but relentlessly heavy tracks like 'The End of Times,' 'Echoes From Fulda,' 'Death Followed Like a Plague,' and 'Enslaved.' The penultimate track, 'In the Land of Rain and Sorrow,' delivers a dark, dense wall of sound before the album concludes with the symphonic 'Into the Mist of Memories' and a neoclassically inspired guitar solo.

The Resurrection of Lilith offers multifaceted, dark, and raw death metal that effortlessly transitions into symphonic passages, showcasing the potential of DEFACING GOD to draw metal fans worldwide into their unique sonic world.
