After the worldwide success of their studio album 'The Mars Volta,' the band is releasing the album as a harmonious acoustic album titled 'Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon.'
The Mars Volta remains true to themselves: it is subtly subversive - endlessly inventive, but never at the expense of the song. Many of the values that made the previous albums of The Mars Volta groundbreaking and highly acclaimed are still present here, but they are used in different, clever ways. The Caribbean rhythms that drove their earlier albums still flourish on Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon - they are no longer in the foreground, but they are audible in every track. Similarly, the grand rock movements and prog complexities of their pioneering releases have given way to greater sonic subtlety, immediacy, and directness. But even as The Mars Volta stays away from grand guignol embellishments, it remains a dark, powerful, and moving listening experience, mature and deeply satisfying in its restraint.
