The Mission fue fundada por Wayne Hussey y Craig Adams tras salir de The Sisters of Mercy, o con mas precisión, de Andrew Eldritch.Al principio se llamaba The Sisterhood. Tras cambiar a The Mission, alcanzaron el nivel de su anterior banda. Tras incontables directos y 9 álbumes de estudio grabados entre 1986 y 2013, los singles salen en el álbum "Singles". 7" versiones y remixes de conocidas piezas de The Mission, como "Afterglow", "Like a Child Again" o "Into the Blue", están incluidas.
